Marco Antonio Díaz, Systems Analysis and Design professor at UJCV, got to know Odoo from its beginning. Over time, he has witnessed the system’s evolution and how it has exceeded his expectations. The software’s integration has become comprehensive, and the processes are more streamlined, always following the best practices.
During an Odoo event, Marco Antonio met Odoo’s Education Program experts, which made him interested in implementing the system into the university’s programs.
Odoo’s Education Program
Odoo’s Education Program provides teachers with extensive information about the system, and students with the necessary tools to apply theoretical knowledge into real-world scenarios. The goal is for students to be prepared to use Odoo in professional settings, enhancing their professional value and competitiveness on the job market.
Odoo’s Integration at the University
UJCV sought an integrated ERP software for its Administration and Industrial Engineering programs, among others. Odoo’s Education Program experts introduced Marco Antonio Díaz to Scale Up!, a business game where players will learn how to create and manage a company using Odoo from scratch. This game allows students to roleplay being the owners of their own company, and they will have to manage different areas of said company through scenarios specifically designed to demonstrate the benefits of using an ERP system to perform their business operations.
As coordinator of the Systems career, Marco Antonio decided to implement these practices in his Business and Technology Engineering, and information Technology subjects.
Practical Implementation of the Program
Marco Antonio Díaz has captivated his students by implementing Odoo’s Scale Up! game on his Systems Design and Analysis and Ecology of Information subjects. He has noticed that students are highly motivated by the final stage of the game, where they develop a real estate project. Student’s can also practice their system design and analysis skills while learning to design efficient and scalable business systems.
Students can learn how to apply analysis concepts through the game. At the same time, they gain practical experience that goes further than theory.

One of the most complex implementations students have undertaken is simulating restaurants within a hotel. This was a comprehensive experience that allowed them to act as both developers and users.
Professional Momentum Thanks to the Program
With Odoo’s Education Program, students have gained valuable skills in development and programming. The university has witnessed its students apply their knowledge in professional practices with Odoo’s partners. Some alumni are already part of the job market. Their goal is to certify more students to keep this evolution going.

The Future with Odoo
Universidad José Cecilio del Valle plans to train professors from other universities on Odoo’s education module, so that they can learn how to create startups and manage companies. They are also collaborating with an Odoo partner from Argentina that needs help implementing the software in Honduras. Students can get a comprehensive education while understanding what being an employee is like.

Established in 1978 by the Asociación Hondureña para el Fomento de la Educación Superior (Honduran Association for the Promotion of Higher Education), the UJCV offers associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees programs of 4 and 5 years, and some master’s degree programs.
